Safety Culture is the way safety is
perceived, organized and valued in an organization. Safety culture is the end
result of combined individual and group efforts towards an organization’s
health and safety program. It reflects the safety performance at all
levels in the organization. It can be characterized as “the way we do
things when no one is watching".
Safety Culture is about people and how they work together.
Safety should become a part of everyday values and action, and not be seen as
an ‘extra task’.
For a good safety-culture, the whole organization needs to
be committed to safety-beliefs, values and mindsets that are reflected in all
levels and departments within the organization. The safety culture of an organization can make a remarkable contribution to changing employee attitudes
and behaviors in relation to health and safety in the
workplace and has a significant impact on reducing the number of incidents and
injuries in the workplace. MORE DETAILS
